9 things to do while at home

Spending time at home doesn’t have to be boring! Here a proposal of 9 things you can do while at home:

  1. Play board games

Playing board games is always a fun way to spend time with friends or family, but now you don’t have any excuse anymore to not do it! With the extra time available at home, it’s the perfect moment to try out that new game that you once bought or received but never got around to read through the guide book. There are also a lot of great games suitable for 2 players nowadays and even those that you can play together instead of against each other. Curious to try something out like that? Try Pandemic (the board game)!

  1. Start a blog or vlog

Do you have a hobby or interest that you’re really good at or know much about? Do you think you have something unique to share? And do you like writing or making photos and videos? Then this may be the ideal moment to start a blog or a vlog! Many people sit at home, browsing social media and the web for something new. If you can provide them with an exciting, fun and interesting read or watch, this is a good moment to get a large group of followers in no-time!

3. Escape and puzzle games

With all the escape rooms closed at the moment, the home escape games are booming! Many escape rooms provide offline escape experiences to play at home or over Zoom/Hangouts/etc. There are also games in this genre that you can perfectly play alone or in pairs, without a time-limit. Check out our own Mystery Games for example: Cottage in the Woods  or the Fugitive’s Trail!

  1. Learn a language

Who doesn’t want to be able to speak multiple languages? One day, we’ll be able to travel abroad again and there’s no better way to experience a country’s culture than by speaking the language, even if it’s just a little bit. There are great ways to learn the basics of a language fast, for example Babbel or Duolingo. Also, now that physical group courses aren’t allowed in many countries, there are plenty of online (group) courses available right now!

  1. Get a pet

When getting a pet, no matter if it’s a puppy, a kitten or a hamster, it’s always important to spend a lot of time with your new companion in the first period after it joins your home. Now that you can’t go (much) outside, this otherwise difficult condition is suddenly a lot easier. If you’ve always wanted a pet, this might be the best moment you’ll get in years!

  1. Binge watch

No need to feel guilty now. Just start a new series and finish the season by the end of the day. Nobody will tell you to do something useful instead. Perfect with pizza to avoid wasting valuable time on cooking while you binge watch.

7. Cooking

Okay, true,

binge watching and pizza is a perfect combo, but that doesn’t mean you should eat pizza every day. Maybe now is the time to learn to master new recipes from exotic cuisines and maybe even follow an online cooking class. Let the others in your household decide if you can continue doing this on a regular basis or pick up the pizza habit again.

  1. Reading

The number 1 activity that people give up on first when their free time is reduced, is reading books. So, now that we have all this free time at home, what is a good thing to start doing again? Indeed, reading books! Check out your own bookshelves for books you didn’t even remember you still had or go on Amazon or ebay to find yourself a new jewel to read.

  1. Learn to play an instrument

Your partner or other members of your household may not thank us for this, but in all fairness, it’s not a bad idea to start learning to play an instrument now. If you don’t have the time for it now, you’ll never have time for it. Did you know it’s relatively easy to get some nice sounds out of a ukulele?
